The Marimekko Elfa double-face wool blend coat has a relaxed fit with a straight top and a flared cut hem. It features the Lokki pattern and is fastened with two concealed buttons sewn into the waist seam, along with a separate belt that is pulled through slits in the side seams and tied in the front. The coat also comes with slanted welt pockets.

Marimekko coats are sewn using the full width of the fabric, so there may be slight variations in their appearance. Each item is unique.

The Lokki (seagull) pattern was inspired by Maija Isola's observation of a window with a curtain drawn across it. When the sun shone through, the wide folds of the curtain created wavy shadows on the fabric, leading to her sudden inspiration. Maija realized that fabric printed with waves would appear abundant and richly folded, even in small pieces.
