Maija Isola created the Kivet fabric in 1956 by cutting out rounds of colored paper with scissors. The print´s shapes likely originate from the large, rough-edged stones cleared from the site of the artist´s studio home. In this variation, Isot Kivet (1959), the original pattern has been blown up on a larger scale.
